A Season of Favor
My Season Chicken and Ribs was birthed through a job loss. While being terminated from my previous job, I made a firm commitment that my next career would entail something that I firmly believe in. That firm belief was in MYSELF. You see, I believe Gods word that says that I am the head and not the tail, I am above only and not beneath, I come behind in no good thing and EVERYTHING I put my hands to SHALL prosper. Barbecue just happened to be the thing that I chose. My two sons have been involved in sports all of their life, and, being the involved parent that I am, I was occasionally chosen to cook the food for their event. At one such event, one parent came to me and stated, " Alvin, your barbecue is the best I have ever had, you should really consider starting your own business. The rest is history.
Our name was birthed through a song by gospel recording artist William Murphy entitled "It Working". In this song he states " This is my season for grace, for favor. This is my season to reap what I have down. It also states " everything is working together for my good" . Those words stuck with me and continue to start my day on a regular basis. I believe their is a "law" concerning sowing and reaping that if I sow good seed into good ground good crops will come up. I have sown good seed into other peoples live that I know are good ground, therefore the harvest is mandatory because its a "law". I used to enforce the law as a Police Officer, now I am required to obey this law of sowing and reaping. THIS IS MY SEASON!!!

ALVIN BROOKS
I am Alvin D. Brooks also known as Officer Brooks, Duane, Brother Brooks, Brooks the Barber, The Barbecue Man, Pops, and a few other titles that I have worn in my life. The One title that I know will never be taken for granted is "Man of God". Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida I was raised to respect adults and have integrity. My Aunt made me learn a quote of hers as a young child. It stated " if at once a job is first begun, never leave it til its done. Be the labor great or small, do it well or not at all". I have lived by that and I will continue to give anything I do my best. With a degree in criminal justice, my career started as a Police Officer. A detour caused me to get off of that path and pursue my own business. Barbecue was my choice. Growing up on Jenkins barbecue, I had a good idea of what people in Jacksonville liked as it pertained to chicken and ribs. I took some of their philosophies and added my own flavor to create a NEW brand. My personality, along with my love for people caused me to embrace customer service as my #1 concern. I am Alvin D. LAWANDA BROOKS
Lawanda F. Brooks, my wife of 23 years is from a small town called St. Marys, Georgia. She was raised in a big family, however, she is the youngest. Being responsible for all the others, she has had a motherly mindset all of her life. Cooking was a way of life for her and that hasnt stopped. I was in a cook off competition several years ago and I entered my ribs and chicken into the contest, knowing I would win first prize. My wife also entered her baked beans in as well just to see how they might fair in the contest. Guess what, my meat placed third, her beans placed first!!!! Can't take her anywhere. With her support, our dinners are complete with all the fixings. She compliments this business and just like the dinner would not be complete without the beans, I would not be complete without her cudos to Lawanda F. Brooks.
